Title

Digital Tour of Malaysian Culture

Background

In the busy lifestyle of any country today there isn’t much time for a cultural experience. That is especially if you are only offered to a one week off from your job to visit another country, or if you are studding or working in another country such as Malaysia. That is what my project is all about it is to introduce Malaysian life and culture to newcomers so they can have a basic idea of what races reside in Malaysia and what kind of cousins they have and what are the cultures that they share such as celebrations.

Target Audience

The target audience of this multimedia project is going to be MMU students who are interested in Malaysian culture and want to get a very general overview of the cultures of Malaysian society. We have to cater this multimedia CD all age groups therefore everything should be clear and self exploratory and clear and should not be limited to only the people who know how to use a computer. Another thing that we are been aware of is that not all international students speak English good so we want to make this a visual experience for ease of understanding.

ObjectivesWe want to make this CD a really Visual experience for our viewers and not have the normal scroll and read contents kind of experience that most web sites and some Interactive multimedia CD gives viewers a learning opportunity which is fun, interactive and easy.

Scope of Content

To Cover all aspects1. Ethnic groups of Malaysia

· In the main menu we want to give them three choices which are: Malay, Chinese and Indian, and there will be a narration that will explain about them. And more detailed information will be in the history part of our multimedia CD

2. Food· This section is going to be divided into the three sections which are Malay Chinese and Indian. Which of course is not going to mention all the cousins that each race has but only the most famous ones that an MMU student is likely to come by. There is also going to be a gallery for viewers to really experience the content visually

3. Clothing

This sections is also going to be divided into three just like the others and clothing we are only going to introduce their most common cultural cloth. There is also going to be a gallery for viewers to really experience the content visuall

4. Beliefs

· This sections like other sections is going to be divided into the three racial groups and it is going to give an idea of the beliefs that the majority of a particular race believes. There is also going to be a gallery for viewers to really experience the content visually

5. Celebration

· This section is also going to be divided among the three racial groups with info and most importantly there going to be a gallery for viewers to really experience the content visually

6. History

· This section is going to be informing our viewers in a more theoretical way but they wouldn’t really have to be reading there will be galleries and voice narration for them to listen to while they are enjoying relevant pictures

Approaches

The internet is a very useful place to find information about anything i.e. Malaysian culture. But that is not the only place where it is possible to obtain info and material. Since we live in this country and are blessed with equipments such as mouth, ears, pens, voice recorders, camera and video cameras they could potentially help excel our product to a professional and valuable level.

Budget

Our budget for this project is going to be very flexible but it lays anywhere between 10RM to 100RM
